The word “rhosddu” is formed from the two Welsh words “rhos” meaning moor or rush pasture, and “ddu” meaning black.
The Parish of Rhosddu was created in 1886. However, the Rhosddu Community Council was not created until 1985, the former Wrexham Municipal Borough Council, and then the Wrexham Maelor Borough Council having the powers of a Parish Council prior to 1985.
The population of Rhosddu was 6,840 in the 2011 Census.
The Prices Lane Community Centre pictured above is leased from the Wrexham Council and is currently managed by Rhosddu Community Council. The Centre is undergoing a programme of refurbishment.
